Please Help. My Antique Gilbert mantle clock runs way too fast! When first wound, it can gain 8 or 9 mins. in?

24 hours. I have lowered the pendulum and increased the weight by 5 grams. I recently bought it and it seems in good mechanical order and appears to have an original Gilbert pendulum weight. Does anyone have a suggestion. I have never encountered this and I have had many old clocks before. THANK YOU, JIM
